Feature · Odoo 20

The release that stops answering questions and starts doing the work

Odoo 20 is unveiled at Odoo Experience in Brussels, 24–26 September, with the stable release following in the weeks after. The headline shift is agentic AI: instead of an assistant that answers when asked, Odoo 20 is built to carry out steps inside a workflow on its own. Alongside it comes a redesigned mobile app, simplified payroll, and direct bank payments from inside Odoo — batch payments and SEPA XML export, without the export-and-upload dance. Discuss and Phone gain a synchronised call recording and transcript player.

01 Agentic AI Executes steps inside a workflow rather than waiting to be asked
02 Direct bank payments Batch payments and SEPA XML generated inside Odoo
03 Rebuilt mobile app A genuine redesign, not a resized desktop screen
04 Simpler payroll Fewer manual steps in the monthly run

What NEXA advises

Don't upgrade the week it ships. Every major Odoo release settles over its first weeks, and an ERP is the wrong place to be an early adopter. Spend the rest of this year on the unglamorous part — inventory your custom modules, flag anything overriding core accounting or inventory logic, get a sandbox running against the release candidate. Then move in Q1, once the first maintenance releases have landed. The exception: if you're still on Odoo 17 or older, your gap is already wide enough that planning should start now regardless of when you pull the trigger.

NEW PARTNERSHIP01

Miska joins us — landscaping, in Saudi Arabia

We've partnered with Miska to bring their landscape project delivery onto Odoo. Landscaping is a genuinely hard fit for ERP: every site is a one-off, costs move with weather and subcontractors, and the maintenance contract keeps running long after handover. Getting that into one system is the whole job.

EGYPT ETA02

Egypt's threshold is lower than most people think

Anything over EGP 250,000 in 2025 revenue had to register by 31 March. And the B2C e-receipt regime is separate from e-invoicing — plenty of firms did one and assumed it covered the other.

CONSTRUCTION03

Contracting runs on numbers you can't see yet

Progress billing, retention, variation orders, subcontractor claims — the figures that decide whether a project made money, usually settled months after handover. We configure them from day one.

SAUDIZATION04

Your Saudi headcount might not count

Since April, only employees whose contracts are documented on Qiwa count toward Nitaqat, and the wage floor to count rose to SAR 4,000. GOSI registration alone no longer does it.

GOSI 202605

GOSI contributions went up in July

For Saudis under the post-2024 system the combined rate moved to 23.5% — 12.75% employer, 10.75% employee. Payroll configured before July needs updating.

NEXA's take

We don't sell software installations. Fifteen years across manufacturing, retail and services means we'll question the process before we configure the system — the advice comes first, and Odoo is how it becomes operational.
